Hull City is a English football club who last season won promotion back in to the Barclays Premier League for 2013/14.
The club’s Egyption owners have decided to change their name, by doing so they’ve risked public outrage after revealing they intend to change the name to Hull City Tigers.
Assem Allam, the industrial magnate who has owned the club since 2010, has justified the move by claiming City is a ”common” name and suggesting its previous full title of Hull City Association Football Club – in use since 1904 – is too long. ”Hull City is irrelevant,” he told the Hull Daily Mail. ”My dislike for the word ‘City’ is because it is common. City is also associated with Leicester, Bristol, Manchester and many other clubs. I want the club to be special. It is about identity. City is a lousy identity.”
Do you believe the name needs changing?
If yes, what could the new name be?
