Controversial bookmaker Tom Waterhouse has sold his online betting business to British gambling giant William Hill.
The deal is $34 million initially with an assumption of $6 million worth of debt.
William Hill has promised another payment of $70 million to Waterhouse but it relies on the business earning up to $30 million in 2015.
But he won’t be disappearing from the public eye anytime soon, as he will remain the face of the online betting business – for now.
Although Tom Waterhouse has attracted much criticism by sections of the media and the public due to his aggressive marketing approach, the bottom line is that the man and the brand has been a success and therefore makes perfect sense to leverage off the personal brand that Waterhouse has aggressively cultivated in recent times.
